Google Maps Pedometer

The google maps pedometer. This thing is wicked cool. You’ll have to unfocus it from Hoboken and zoom into where you are, but once you zoom in to your house and trace everything out, it’s incredible. The distance from my mom’s house to my dad’s is 0.401 miles! I could use this thing all day…

‘Tis remarkably accurate too. I used my bike computer to calculate the distance I ride and it gave me 33.6km (or 16.8km x 2, as I get there and turn around). With my clicking on the map, it gives me 16.78km for the one-way trip, and I’m going to chock up the .02 difference to my clumsy clicking accuracy :P

Neat stuff.

If you are looking a pedometer with existing routes, walkjogrun.net allows you to save your routes to the system and see other people’s routes.
