By SuperDave | April 17th, 2005 | 27 Comments | General

Some things are too good to be forgotten, I have made it my life’s mission to bring back the following 10 items:

  1. the evening paper
  2. whittling
  3. fedoras
  4. verandas
  5. parlors
  6. rocking chairs
  7. bow ties
  8. jukeboxes
  9. walking sticks
  10. pocket watches

If you also want to bring something awesome back, say so.

all that stuff you could get no problem if you just go back a hundred years or so. Except the Jukebox. That one’s a little out of place.

We can add to the jukebox era the dances, how people used to go out dancing as a form of entertainment rather than sticking around and watching a movie or tv or videogames. That would be awsome.

I want to bring back the following:

1. Atari 2600s (’cause I’m sure I could handle that programming language and make kick butt games like Chopper Command andStampede!)
2. the ability to make a living by self-publishing your own poems (Whitman did this, Coleridge did this, Wordsworth did this, etc.)
3. karaoke as a thing you make fun of, not participate in
4. pride in being American (I haven’t felt that for quite some time now)
5. my grandparents (they were cool, some might even say awesome)
6. the American dream (it faded away quite some time ago)
7. “Cheers”
8. good Saturday morning cartoons that you don’t mind getting up at 6:30am to watch
9. my parents paying for all my clothes, food, car insurance, AND giving me an allowance!
10. world peace (it was good while it lasted, wasn’t it? Wait, you didn’t feel it?!)
